All month long we have celebrated our amazing principals. This week they revived a box of Crumbl cookies because our school would “crumbl” without them!

It's School Bus Safety Week! 🚌 At Rockford Elementary, we're reminding everyone about the importance of staying safe on and around school buses. Students, remember to stay seated, keep the aisles clear, and always follow the driver’s instructions. Parents, please remind your children to look both ways before crossing the street and to never walk behind the bus. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe as we travel to and from school!
Stop for School Buses
When you see a school bus slowing down or stopping, it’s not just the bus that you need to have your eyes on – but the surrounding area too. Children wait at least several feet away from a bus and often cross the street when they are boarding or getting off the bus. This is why you must stop for school buses, and don’t attempt to pass.
Illegal School Bus Passing
Illegal school bus passing poses a significant threat to children and others on the road. In every state, it is illegal for you to pass a school bus while the stop arm is extended and the red lights are flashing.
Understanding School Bus Lights
Learn the school bus laws in your state and always follow them, as well as the flashing lights that school bus drivers use to alert you.
Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. You should slow down and prepare to stop your vehicle.
Red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. You must stop your car and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving before you can start driving again.

Week 2 of the SCS Gives Campaign Staff Raffle Winners! Big thanks to our donations from Scenic Automotive Group and Butterfly Magnolia Boutique!

We are having a hoop shoot next Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the gym for the SCS Gives Campaign. The cost to enter is $2.00 per student, and it is open to all students and grade levels.

See It. Report It.
This week, students have been watching the Say Something videos to learn how to report safety concerns using the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System.
Through this system, you can securely and anonymously submit tips to help protect someone who may be at risk of harming themselves or others. Remember, your voice can make a difference.
If you see it, say something.
Together, we create a safer school community!

What Is National School Lunch Week?
Learning is tough work—and kids need fuel if they’re going to learn! That’s why a healthy midday meal is crucial to the growing children who go to school. Since 1962, when President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW), this annual observance has promoted the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has both in and out of the classroom.
