All books checked out from the Media Center must be returned by Friday, May 3rd. Sports physicals will take place on Tuesday, April 30th for any student who turned in the completed history portion of the physical form.
Students will dismiss at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 3rd.
Also, on Friday PTO will sponsor the 8th grade formal at PKP Country Club from 6:00-8:30 pm. This event is for 8th-grade students only. Tickets are still available for $15. You can pay cash or write a check to PMMS Boosters/PTO.
Finally, yearbooks are still available to purchase. You can order online at Jostens.com or you can send in cash or check for $42.80.

Progress reports will go home on Wednesday, April 24th. We will have a Camo Day on Wednesday to support our softball and baseball teams as they compete against Mount Airy.

The Ravens Golf team won yesterday's match at Cedarbrook Country Club by 3 strokes. For 7 straight years, the Ravens Golf team are your Conference Champions. Congratulations to Vada Woods, Reece Wyse, Mason Lawson, Parker McKinney, Lucas Hough, Caleb Sloop, Woodrow Boaz, Brody Chilton, and conference MVP Corbin Mills.

Spring Pictures will take place on Monday, April 8th. Pictures must be pre-ordered, so only students who have purchased pictures online or turned in forms with payment will have their picture taken tomorrow.
The mock EOG will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning. Please avoid making appointments during this time so students are present to take their tests.
We will have a Neon Spirit Day to support our golf team as they compete at PKP on Thursday.
Friday, April 12th is a required staff development day for teachers, so students will not be in school.
I would like to wish our track team the best of luck as they compete in the conference tournament at Mount Airy High School on April 13th.
Finally, there will be a BINGO fundraiser in the cafeteria on Friday, April 12th to raise money for families in need in Surry County. The doors open at 5:30 pm and games will begin at 6:30 pm. Pre-sale tickets are $25 or you can purchase them for $30 at the door.

These camps are for middle and high school students at SCC.
The Sixth Grade Staff would like to recognize Sarah Avery Boaz as our Student of the Week for April 1 - 5. Sarah Avery is an outstanding student. Her dedication to learning, her positive attitude, and her positive behavior make her a role model for her peers. We are proud of you, Sarah Avery! Congratulations, and keep up the fantastic work!

Students will return to school Tuesday. Also, on Tuesday we will have a Red Out Spirit Day to support our boys tennis team for their match against Mount Airy.

Congratulations to Solomon Washington, Jon Hutchens, and Callie Griffin for setting new school records in their individual track events. Solomon Washington set a record in discus with 122 feet and 8 inches. Jon Hutchens beat his own record from last year in 110 hurdles with 14.92 seconds. Callie Griffin set the school record in high jump with 4 feet 9 inches.

The health department will be here on April 30th to conduct free sports physicals for any 6th - 8th grade student. The physical will not expire until the end of the 2024/25 school year. Students can come by the office to pick up the physical for, or you can access it on our school website under athletics and then forms. Parents or guardians must fill out pages 1 and 2 of the physical form before students can get a physical on April 30th.

Bailey Holt and Carollyn Samples competed in the Forensics State Finals on Saturday, March 23 in Charlotte. The competition represented the best of the best in the state; to qualify, teams had to win first place in their regional competitions or participate on a team that won 1st place. These ladies placed 9th overall in North Carolina for Duo Interpretation. We are so proud of them for representing Pilot Mountain Middle School so well! Congratulations, Bailey and Carollyn!
Vicki Genfan, "Guitar Player" magazines' Guitar Superstars, playing her original music for PMMS Music Club. We are so lucky that she is playing for our Chorus Concert on March 26, 6:00, PMMS.
Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Year, Mrs. Bethany Riddle. She serves as the Volunteer Coordinator on PTO/Boosters. We appreciate all she does for Pilot Mountain Middle School!
