12.11.23 Good Afternoon Mountaineers! This is your principal Matt Scott with a quick update. Our Robotics Team traveled to Charlotte last weekend for a Semi-Final competition. They did so well that they won an invitation to the State Championship. Since their season is continuing, so will practices. The Robotics Team will practice Thursday after school until 4:30. They will also practice next Tuesday after school until 4:30, but will not practice next Thursday, Dec. 21 as that is an early release day. Friday we will have a Paint & Pancakes Night. Plan to join us at 5:00 for a pancake supper and then at 6:00 for a Paint Night. We will have student-made ornaments available at this event that you are going to want to purchase as well. This evening will support our Student Council and Art program. Those are all the announcements for tonight. I look forward to seeing our Mountaineers back on campus tomorrow.

On Saturday, our Mountaineer Engineers along with other top teams from the region, competed in the First Lego League Regional Semi-Finals in Charlotte, NC. Competition was tough but our Mountaineers were successful and they finished 16th in the robot runs. This score along with robot design, innovation project, and core values scores qualified them for the State Semi-Finals that will be held at NC A&T in Greensboro on January 13, 2024! We are so proud of our Mountaineers! Good Luck in the State Semi-Finals!

Mountain Park couldn't be more proud of our fifth graders! They are incredible leaders for our building and community! Yesterday they went on a field trip to see A Christmas Carol, and enjoyed lunch at Chick-fil-A. They received several compliments about their leadership and behavior while they were out and about! They were also excited to see two of our Mountaineers in the show. We are extremely proud of our Mountaineers!
