Yesterday was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate Officer Foster. Officer Foster has been a wonderful addition to our building. She is constantly supporting our staff and building relationships with our students. Thank you Officer Foster for all you do for our school and community!

1.7.24 Good Evening Mountaineers! This is your principal Matt Scott with this week’s updates. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be taking the North Carolina Check-ins this week. As always, it is important to be at school and on time as we look to show off all we’ve learned so far this school year. Our Student Council will meet after school on Monday until 4:00. Robotics will practice after school on Tuesday until 4:30. The Good News Club will meet after school on Wednesday until 4:30. We want to wish our Robotics team and their coaches, Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Embry, good luck as they have advanced all the way to the state championships. They will represent our school and community on Saturday in Greensboro. Our school is participating in the Kid’s Heart Challenge. There are two huge rewards possible through this challenge, the first is a pair of tickets to the Super Bowl, and the second is a $10,000 in fitness equipment for the school. Please see our Facebook page or website for more details. Looking ahead, we will have no school on Jan. 15th for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Those are all the announcements for tonight. I look forward to seeing our Mountaineers back on campus tomorrow.

We had “snow” much fun at our paint and pancakes night! Thank you to all the families who came out to support our student council and our art program! We love seeing your creativity shine, and some great quality time was shared this evening. We still have some student ornaments available for purchase, please send $5 or 3 canned foods to school in order to bring home an ornament. This money and food goes into our student assistance fund.

Fifth graders have been visited by two special elves. Sparkle and Twinkle have been up to all kinds of silliness around the building and in fifth grade. Let's hope they can make good choices before heading back to the North Pole!
