AFTER Spring Break.
Around 2:00 p.m. today, a 12-inch water main ruptured approximately half a mile from East Surry High School. Thanks to the quick response of the Town of Pilot Mountain and the Surry County Schools Maintenance Department, the situation has been addressed and the water main has been successfully repaired. School will operate on regular schedule tomorrow.
However, there is a Boil Water Advisory for the Town of Pilot Mountain at this time. Please be assured that this will not impact child nutrition services tomorrow. We have made arrangements for bottled water, and students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to ensure they stay hydrated throughout the day.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this unexpected situation. The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities, and we want to assure you that every effort is being made to maintain a safe and conducive learning environment.
The Town of Pilot Mountain has reported a water main failure that has interrupted water service to an area of Pilot Mountain, including Pilot Mountain Elementary School, Pilot Mountain Middle School, and East Surry High School. As a result of this incident, all evening school activities have been canceled. This evening’s scheduled home basketball game against Surry Central High School has been rescheduled for tomorrow night at East Surry High School. School will dismiss at regular schedule. Please note that due to this issue, our dismissal traffic pattern has changed. Parents/guardians who are picking up their student this afternoon, please turn left when exiting the traffic loop. The road will be closed in the opposite direction.
The Town of Pilot Mountain and the Surry County Schools maintenance department are on the scene and diligently working to resolve this issue. Surry County Schools is closely monitoring this situation and will provide an update later this evening at 8:00p.m.
Thank you for your continued support of East Surry High
School.
