On Friday, November 18, 2024, teachers, parents, and students gathered to celebrate Mrs. Varney and Miss Cabrera's fifth-grade students' graduation from the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. Thanks to Officer Jennings' guidance, students spent weeks learning about the dangers of substance abuse and developing life skills to help them resist peer pressure and navigate difficult situations. Congratulations to the 2024 D.A.R.E. essay winners Thiago Garcia and Ander Hodges read their essays during the ceremony to exemplify what they learned during their time in the D.A.R.E. program.
Thank you to our guest speaker Honorable Judge Marion Boone. A special thank you to the Surry County Sheriff’s Department for speaking to the students of Westfield Elementary and for putting on the D.A.R.E. program for all students in Surry County Schools.
