☔❄️ When it’s raining hard outside, Pre-K finds creative ways to have fun! Our Pre-K students had a snowball fight in the gym this rainy Wednesday, bringing the winter spirit indoors. Even Mrs. Waters stopped by to join in on the fun! What a great way to turn a rainy day into a memorable one! 🎉

Merry Christmas and a Big Thank You from the Celebration Committee!
Our celebration committee went to Walmart Tuesday night, and we had a great time shopping for this special Angel! I know the joy these gifts will bring, and this is truly the heart of this season as we celebrate the gift of Christ!
A big shout out to Grayce Goins for delivering our gifts! We were also thankful to have our two future Gators (Caroline and Joanna) and our former Gator (Ella) along to help us shop! Thanks again for your donation and for helping bring Christmas to someone in need!

Thursday, December 12: Rocking Around the Christmas Tree – It's time to show off your holiday style with an ugly Christmas sweater! 🎅🎄
The uglier, the better—let’s spread cheer with some festive fun! 🌟

Mrs. Thomas’ fourth-grade class completed a rock cycle simulation today using Starburst. Students tore the starburst into “sediments” simulating erosion. Students then gathered the “sediments” together to model erosion and compacted the “sediments” into layers to create a “sedimentary rock”. Students then applied head and pressure to the “sedimentary rock” to create a “metamorphic rock.” Finally, students microwaved their “metamorphic rock” to simulate melting into an “igneous rock.”

First grade has been learning about Christmas and trees from the past and present. We concluded today by making an edible Christmas tree. This is one of our favorite activities!

For day 3 of Christmas around the world, Kindergarten students learned about the Christmas customs of Sweden. They learned about Saint Lucia and made her crown.

December Teacher of the Month
Please join Surry County Schools in congratulating the Surry County Schools' December Teacher of the Month, sponsored by Accurate Insurance Solutions Inc., Mrs. Sarah Johnson! Mrs. Johnson is a 3rd Grade Teacher at Rockford Elementary School.
The nomination reads: "Mrs. Johnson goes above and beyond for her students everyday. She's always making learning fun and creative so her students can understand the curriculum in a better positive way. She has such a kind, loving heart and treats her students as if they were her own. My daughter has been blessed to have her as her third-grade teacher this year and she has made such a positive impact on her. I couldn't think of a better teacher of the month for November.
