Both Girls and Boys Swim Team had another amazing win against Central Middle School. Girls won 70-57. First place finishers were Cori Brinkley, Layla Comer, Emilynn Haymore(they won all 3 of their events), Stella Joyce, Morgan Dean, Myiah Frye, and Aurora White. Boys won 63-45. First place finishers were Abram Richardson (he won all 3 of his events), Matthew Needham, Raiden Liles, and Charlie Speagle. Bryson Scott and Coal Smith finished 1st and 2nd in the 50 Back.

The Surry County Board of Education has accepted multiple draft calendars for public comment for the 2024-2025 school year. This period is open for the next 30 days. Start dates include August 8, 2024, August 12, 2024, and August 26, 2024. At this time, only one of these calendars meets the requirements put forth by the NC General Assembly, which means August 8 and August 12 may not be an option under current guidelines. These calendars are available for public comment, and those who wish to contribute feedback are encouraged to fill out the attached Google form or contact the Surry County Schools Administrative Offices at (336)386-8211.

The PTO Raffle Ticket Sale for a $1,000 cash giveaway ends on Monday, December 4th. The winning ticket will be drawn at the home basketball game on Thursday.
There will be a band concert on Tuesday, December 5th at 6:30 pm.
I would like to wish our MathCounts team the best of luck as they compete at the countywide competition on Friday, December 8th at Central Middle School.
Finally, the Student Council is hosting a Food Drive this week. Items collected will be distributed to students in need and to our local community. Each grade level has been assigned specific items so we can ensure we have a variety of food for families. The grade level that brings in the most items will receive a donut party. Please refer to our Facebook page for specific items assigned to each grade level.

This week, the 6th-grade staff has chosen a student who exhibits great self-awareness and integrity as our Student of the Week.
Annamarie is always prepared, never afraid to ask a question, always works hard in classes, and stays focused, even if those around her are not. She always follows school rules, and often goes beyond expectations. We are proud of Annamarie and are pleased to recognize her as our Student of the Week for November 27 - December 1.

Emily will advance to the District Spelling Bee in February.

Book Fair Parent Event

The Book Fair will be at PMMS this week. We will have a Parent Night at the Book Fair on Tuesday, November 28th from 3:15-6:00 pm in the Media Center.
Students will dismiss at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 1st.
As a reminder, the PTO Raffle Ticket Sale for a $1,000 cash giveaway is currently underway. The top seller will receive $250 in cash and the top selling class will receive a pizza party. The sale will end on December 4th and the winning ticket will be drawn at the home basketball game on December 7th.

Congratulations to 6th grader Raven Lane Griffith for being our top seller by selling 10 boxes in our fundraiser.
