On Tuesday, November 26th, members of Surry County Schools, Elkin City Schools, and Mount Airy City Schools joined together for the 2024 Surry All County Honor Band. Students earned an opportunity to perform with this group by preparing an audition. This preparation consisted of perfecting multiple major scales, a chromatic scale consisting of all notes on their instrument, and performing a short piece of music after just thirty seconds of viewing the piece. Students who scored the highest in the audition process were selected for this honor. The middle school band was conducted by Mr. Michael Sounders, and the high school band was led by Mr. Hunter Soots. Students rehearsed with these clinicians for a combined 11 hours over two days to prepare for this concert. The concert was an exciting and impressive program performed for parents, families and community members! We are so proud of all our hard-working musicians!
