Good evening, Greyhounds! This is Paige Badgett, principal of North Surry High School with your Hound Updates.
I appreciate the cooperation of all members of our community in following the new traffic procedure. For the past two days, we have done our best to mitigate traffic on Hwy 89 and navigate traffic through the campus. Based on observations made by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office and school administration, we have concluded that the entrance and exit for the new traffic pattern need to be flipped.
Beginning, August 14, 2023, when you arrive on campus, please utilize the lower entrance and follow the directional signs before dropping off your students at the designated drop-off point. The morning drop-off point and afternoon pick up point will be located along the curb at the front of the school.
We will have multiple cones designated for student drop off and pick up along the front of the school. Please pull up to the open cone for your child to exit the car. Students should exit cars at each drop off location. In the afternoon, please pull all the way up to the end of the pick up zone. Students should pay attention and load cars at each pick up zone location.
Student drivers that remain on campus and will be on campus during fourth period should still park behind the first, second and Academy wings. Those students that will leave before 4th period should park in the parking lot at the end of the New Wing.
Safety remains our top priority, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding, patience, and support as we transition to this new traffic pattern. Your cooperation is instrumental in ensuring the well-being of our entire school community.
An important announcement from Dr. Badgett
