#SCSUpdates | 2025-2026 School Calendar Feedback is Open Now! The Surry County Board of Education has accepted multiple draft calendars for public comment for the 2025-2026 school year. Potential start dates include August 7, 2024, August 11, 2024, August 13, 2024, and August 25, 2024. These calendars are available for public comment for the next 30 days, and those who wish to contribute feedback are encouraged to fill out the attached Google form or contact the Surry County Schools Administrative Offices at (336)386-8211. #SCSUpdates | Calling elementary parents who would like to serve on our district-level Title I Parent Advisory Council for Parent & Family Engagement. We would love to have your voice! There will be 4 meetings occurring between December 2024 through November 2025. They will be held virtually and/or in-person, depending on what the Title I PAC chooses to do. Please share your interest by completing the interest survey form, which you can access via the QR code or link. Each elementary school should have a minimum of 2 PAC representatives. We will verify your child attends one of our elementary schools, and you cannot be an employee of Surry County Schools. #SCSUpdates | Due to a light dusting of snow on a number of roadways in the Flat Rock, Slate Mountain, and Westfield communities, Surry County Schools will operate on a 3-hour delay on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

These buses will help ensure safer and more efficient transportation for our students. #SCSUpdates | REMINDER: Early Dismissal at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2024!

Out of an abundance of caution, Surry County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. This delay will help with visibility for bus drivers and allow additional time for families to safely commute to school campuses. Students who ride the bus should plan to arrive at their bus stop two hours later than they normally would. Thank you, have a good evening, and be safe tomorrow!

#SCSUpdates | Out of an abundance of caution, all Surry County Schools will remain closed for students, Monday, September 30, 2024. Tomorrow will be an optional teacher workday. In addition, Surry County Schools will be opening East Surry, North Surry, and Surry Central High Schools for our families who are without power from 11:00am-1:00pm, on Monday, September 30. Child nutrition staff will be on-site to serve meals. You are welcome to come by for a meal, take a shower, and use the restrooms. Our locker rooms will also be available for your convenience. Thank you, and please stay safe.

EARLY DISMISSAL AND REMOTE LEARNING DAY - HURRICANE HELENE Due to heavy rain and potential flooding, Surry County Schools will dismiss students at 2:00 p.m. today, Thursday, September 26, 2024. All after-school events and activities are canceled and there will be no after-school childcare this afternoon. Due to the hazardous weather outlook for tomorrow, which could impact student drivers, bus routes, and overall safety, Friday, September 27, will be a remote learning day for students and staff. Students should check their learning management system for assignments and instructions from their teachers. Safety is the top priority for Surry County Schools, and we believe this decision to be in the best interest of our students, staff, and families. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe over the next few days during this severe weather event.
