Multiple Surry County Schools HOSA Chapters earned the opportunity to compete in the International HOSA Competition held in Dallas, TX June 20 - June 25. To advance to this point, eligible students had to place either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their respective categories at the Regional and State levels. Surry Early College had two students advance and compete at Internationals: Maddie Grimes and Saylor Jennings. Pilot Mountain Middle School had five students to advance and compete at Internationals: Layla Lineberry, Emilynn Haymore, Reece Wyse, Emma Blizzard, and Hayden King. Meadowview Magnet Middle School had seven students to advance and compete at Internationals: Abigail Southern, Addison Cornett, Evey Eades, Kaylin Adame, Anaya Sweatman, Ashlynn Medina, and Kynlee Venable. Overall, Surry County Schools had 6 students place in the Top 10 for their respective categories at the International Competiton, where over 12,000 students from across the globe competed. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our Surry County Schools HOSA students - many of our students experienced their first flight, and they were able to experience various learning opportunities such as visiting the JFK Memorial and Museum as well as exploring the historic downtown of Fort Worth and downtown Dallas. We are thankful for the exceptional leadership of our HOSA advisors from these schools - Tina Beasley (SECHS), Emma Crouse (MMMS), Tanya Davis (PMMS), and Kari Casstevens (PMMS) and for the support from SCS as well as multiple community businesses who provided financial support for these efforts. This was the inaugural year for HOSA at SECHS, MMMS, and PMMS - we cannot wait to see how these chapters continue to strengthen and grow in the future.
