The Grand Ole Opry showcases talented students through their Music City Performance Program. The Surry Central Eagle Ensemble was welcomed by the Grand Ole Opry and its patrons on April 4th, 2025.
The Music City Performance Program is an exciting part of the Opry experience for visiting performing student groups. This program gives students a performance experience at one of the nation's most iconic and historic music establishments. Showcasing talented students from across the country is very rewarding and fosters excellence in their musical development curriculum.
The Surry Central Eagle Ensemble delivered a dynamic and polished 20-minute performance in front of an enthusiastic crowd prior to attending the world’s longest-running live radio show, the Grand Ole Opry. Their program included a variety of musical selections that highlighted their talent, dedication, and musical growth under the direction of their teacher, Angie Smith.
This remarkable opportunity was a proud moment for Surry Central High School and Surry County Schools, reflecting a strong commitment to the arts and student achievement. The experience will no doubt leave a lasting impression on the ensemble members, enriching their musical journey and inspiring future performances.
