The Surry County School System hosted the 2025 spelling bee on February 6, 2025, at Surry County Service Center. Mrs. Ashley Mills pronounced the words in the championship bee. Mrs. Mills is the Managing Director of the Surry County Schools Educational Foundation.
Piper Patton won the championship bee in the 6th round. Piper will compete with approximately three dozen other student spellers from northwest North Carolina at the Carolina Panthers Regional Spelling Bee at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.
