Surry County Schools is excited to announce that School Resource Officer Garrett Chamberlain will take on the newly allocated position at Pilot Mountain Elementary School. We’re thrilled to have him on board and welcome his wealth of experience and deep connection to the Pilot Mountain community.
Deputy Chamberlain brings over 12 years of law enforcement experience, including eight years as a School Resource Officer. His background in coaching local football and basketball and his involvement in the Pilot Mountain community make him a fantastic addition to our team and the SRO program.
Deputy Chamberlain is a Mount Airy High School graduate who attended Surry Community College, where he completed his Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET). After completing his training, he spent 12 years with the Mount Airy Police Department, serving four years as a Patrol Officer before transitioning to the role of School Resource Officer. In addition to his law enforcement career, Deputy Chamberlain has a strong background in coaching. After spending five years coaching at Mount Airy Middle School, he has been the head football coach at Pilot Mountain Middle School since 2022. He has also been an assistant football coach at East Surry High School for two years and coaches a travel basketball team for second and third-grade boys in Pilot Mountain.
Outside of work, Deputy Chamberlain is devoted to his family. He and his wife, Courtnie, have been married for nine years and are the proud parents of four children: Kaidence, Jaxxon, Boston, and Lennox. In his free time, he enjoys supporting his children’s athletic endeavors, spending time in Florida with family and friends, and enjoying beach trips with his family.
