Dear Surry County Schools Community,
I would like to update you about Senate Bill 49, commonly referred to as "The Parents' Bill of Rights," and how this legislation relates to current Board of Education policies and Surry County Schools' practices. This recently passed act was voted on to enumerate the rights of parents to direct the upbringing, education, healthcare, and mental health of minor children. All of these rights are addressed through pre-existing Board Policy and SCS practices.
