There are a variety of activities you can get involved in at Gentry Middle School.

First LEGO League- (Mrs. Hodges) 
Gentry Middle School participates in the Surry FIRST LEGO League Robotic Program. The Surry FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) targets middle school students in an initiative to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math or what is called STEM education.  Students build and program LEGO® robots to complete tasks in sanctioned competitions, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches. FIRST® stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” to inspire young people’s interest in science and technology.

Debate (Mrs. Cowan)
Learn the art of persuasive oration in order to influence friends and convince others of your superior intellect.  Members must be able to stand in front of people and talk. 

Drama (Mrs. Cain and Ms. Cooke)
Do you love being on stage? We would love to have you be part of the GMS Drama Team! 

Battle of the Books (Mrs. Bode and Mrs. Whitfield)

The Million Words Club (Mrs. Bode)
Every student has an opportunity to earn their spot in the Million Words Club. All you have to do is read, take your Read N Quiz quiz and collect your words. Once you reach 1,000,000 for the school year, you are in the club. Students who read 3,000,000 words during their time at GMS get to leave their mark in the media center.

Math Counts (Mrs. Easter)
Do you love math? If you answered yes.. WE NEED YOU! 

HOSA (Mrs. Norman and Mrs. Hamlin)
Are you thinking about going into the medical field? Maybe you just want to learn of the many areas that the health field covers. If so, HOSA may be for you! 

FFA (Mrs. Murphy)
FFA is the premier youth organization preparing members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture.
